Really nice pictures - at least the Dairy Queen is in the same place; the underpass, railroad tracks and Black's Trailer Court are gone; too bad. I lived near the water tower on Hillcrest; the orchard across the street from my old house was cut down long ago. No more smudge pots either. We could smell the Sunnyside feed lot when the wind was right (or wrong). I liked the fields of mint.

I have been away from Grandview since 1983. Looking at these pictures made my mind go back to when I was a kid playing in the Apple & Cherry orchards of our boss and owner Dean Whitney. It seems like it was yesterday, If anybody has more pictures please send them to me or post them there are more people out there just like me. If anybody knows Bobby Yanez or anybody from the class of 84 please tell them i say Hi.

[...] I have been through some of the areas covered–Butte, Montana; New Mexico; Yellowstone, and the book resonates with me. Half my family comes from Arizona and New Mexico; New Mexico seems like the quintessential “West” to me. Jeff, there is a chapter about Latino agriculture workers in Sunnyside, I think a town over from Grandview. [...]

Sunnyside is where my Uncle Bryce lives, I think. I miss the smell of sage in the valley at dusk.

Locals - or perhaps, neighbors - associate Sunnyside more with the smell of feed lots than the smell of sage.
